Yang's Dumpling opened its first Singapore outlet at Bugis Junction #B1-05 in early June 2026. The Shanghai shengjianbao chain, 小杨生煎, started as a Wujiang Road stall in 1994 and now runs hundreds of shops. The Bugis kitchen is behind glass. You watch the buns hit the cast-iron pan, then you eat them while they are still leaking soup, or you wait too long and they do not.
What the Singapore menu actually charges
CNA Lifestyle's May Seah reviewed the Bugis shop on 6 June. CapitaLand lists the tenant at #B1-05. Hours are 10am to 10pm daily. Ordering is by QR code. Service is fast. The shop is not halal.
The pork dumpling is $7.90 for four. Prawn is $14.90 for four. The seasonal crab roe and pork bun is $18.90 for four. You can mix plates. A two-pork, two-prawn plate was $11.40 when CNA visited. Black vinegar sits on the table. Daniel Food Diary's advice is the old Shanghai method: bite a hole, blow, sip the soup, then add vinegar.
Noodles and soups fill out a meal if four buns are not enough. CNA listed Spicy Radish Duck Vermicelli Soup at $10.90, Spicy Eggplant and Minced Pork Noodle at $8.90, and Spring Onion Noodle at $7.90. Wontons in soup run $6.90 to $9.90. Fishball soup is $6.90. AsiaOne also flagged Duck Vermicelli Soup around $9.90. Treat the dumpling plate as the reason you came. Use a noodle if you are sharing.
Why the basement location matters
Bugis Junction basement is already a food strip. Yang's sits with Daily Chicken, Oriental Kopi, and other new 2026 names. You come off Bugis MRT into the mall basement without crossing Victoria Street. That is useful on a wet afternoon, and it is why the opening weekend queued. The bun itself is the same idea as Shanghai. Thin top, sesame, spring onion, thick fried base, soup in the filling. CNA said the pork filling tasted close to the mainland shops, with the usual caveat that pork supply differs.
The brand talks about 46 steps and a family line back to 1947. You do not need that speech to eat here. You need to know the pan-fry is done in front of you, and that a plate that sits five minutes loses the crackle. If the shop is slammed, eat at the counter the moment the tray lands.
How to go without wasting a lunch hour
Weekday late afternoon is kinder than Saturday noon. The basement seats turn over quickly. If you are already on Level 2 of Bugis Street for the weekend market, walk the link into Bugis Junction and drop one floor. Pair the buns with something else in the mall only if you are still hungry. Four pork buns are a snack. Add duck vermicelli if it is dinner.
This is not a hidden shop. Xiaohongshu was posting teaser photos from March. The value is that you no longer need a Shanghai trip for this specific bun. It is also not a fine-dining room. Come for the pan, the soup, and the $7.90 pork plate. Skip it if you wanted xiao long bao with a thinner skin. Shengjianbao is a different bun, fried on the bottom, and that is the point of this unit.
CapitaLand's store page is the official listing. CNA and Daniel Food Diary remain the best public write-ups of the Singapore menu as of June. Prices above are from those reviews. Confirm the seasonal crab bun in store. It was listed as seasonal at opening.
